2. Process Brief Description

KDON-200Y-160Yair separation plant is according to the different boiling points of air components, pressurized and precooled the air to remove H2O and CO2 by molecular sieve, cooled to the liquid temperature in the main heat exchanger, entered in distillation column, got liquid oxygen and nitrogen products.

This device is molecular sieve air purification with expander process

Feed air enter into air compressor, compressed air to ~ 10barg, and then fed into air refrigeration unit. After it is reduced to 5-10ºC, it is fed into the alternative molecular sieve adsorber, adsorbed impurities such as H2O,CO2 and C2H2. Purified process air pressurized through expander then enters into the cold box. Pressurized air is divided into two parts, one through the heat exchanger after cooling to ~ 250K draw out and enter into the cryogenic chiller, and be cooled to ~ 243K and then into the main heat exchanger continue to cool. The cooled air draw out of the middle of the heat exchanger and went into the expander. Some of expanded air goes into heat exchanger to reheat then out of the cold box, the other directly into the upper part of the tower; another part of the air is liquefied by backflow gas, and goes into the lower tower by cryogenic expander

The air primarily rectified in lower column to get liquid air, waste liquid nitrogenand pure liquid nitrogen. Extract liquid air, waste liquid nitrogen and pure liquid nitrogen from lower column. Liquid air and Liquid nitrogen undercooled by subcooler, then throttle into upper column. After further rectification, get purity 99.6% liquid oxygen at the bottom of upper column, and as products out of the cold box.

Obtained waste nitrogen from the top of upper column, out of cold box through subcooler, reheated in main heat exchanger, extracted some partenter into molecular sieve purification system as regeneration gas, and the surplus part emptying.
